Post subject:  Re: Is VPS Hosting Faster than Shared?

VPS hosting is superior to shared hosting in many ways. While both the hosting platforms have many websites sharing the server, the number can be more in shared hosting. The primary difference between the two is that VPS is more stable, allows customization, and is scalable. Shared hosting is not scalable and each user gets a limited share of bandwidth, memory, server space etc.

Whether VPS hosting is faster than shared hosting usually is based on the bandwidth being offered. It will depend on the type of websites that are being hosted.

If all the sites in a shared hosting platform are small then even a shared hosting service can be efficient and fast. However, if there are a few large resources- consuming websites, it can slow the shared hosting platform considerably.

Another factor that could have an impact on the speed of a server is the tools that are applied. If the host implements tools such as SSD instead of HDD, CDNs, or cache servers, even the shared hosting can be remarkably fast.

This problem does not arise in VPS hosting since each account has dedicated resources. Even if there is a large resource consuming website, it will not have any impact on the other websites. VPS requires the customers to have some level of technical expertise to configure the server to suit their business needs.

Performance of the server, shared or VPS, ultimately depends on the hosting service provider. Some providers overload the server to give a poor performance. Choose Go4hosting as your web server provider to have assured, reliable, and superior performance.
