VPS is expandable to virtual private servers. A powerful physical server is partitioned into two or more portions using virtualization technology. Each of the VPS runs its own copy of the operating system and mimics the dedicated server in its features. They are all separately housed in small compartments without being connected.

Because of its hybrid nature, VPS is often said to be a bridge that fills in the huge gap between the shared hosting and dedicated server hosting. There are many websites sharing the server in VPS like in shared hosting. Therefore, the costing is also almost similar. However, the similarity with shared hosting ends there.

The other Features Match that of a Dedicated Server.

VPS hosting gives the clients total administrative control. The client can configure the server as per their business needs. They can install any software application they find necessary for their business.

Each VPS has its own share of resources that cannot be touched by the other websites. This ensures better reliability and lowers the risks of server crashes due to traffic pressures.

There is complete privacy and isolation as no outside entity can access the area without the website owner’s approval. Risks of the account getting compromised due to hacked neighbor account will not be there in VPS.

Each VPS hosting is assigned a dedicated IP which identifies and isolates them from the other websites in the server.

Fallout's of a bad neighbor will not be seen in VPS unlike in shared hosting where the entire server is black listed if one account is suspended since they all share one IP.
