Information security, most of the times is shortened to InfoSec, is the exercise of shielding information from unlicensed use, access, disruption, disclosure, perusal, modification, destruction, recording or inspection. It is a broad term that is used irrespective of the arrangement the data may take.


There are two main features of information security. They are:


- IT security: Occasionally mentioned as the ‘computer security’, IT Security is the information security applied to the technology. It is valuable to mark down that a ‘computer’ not always means a desktop at home. A computer is any electronic gadget with a processor and a bit of memory (at times even a calculator is a computer). IT security professionals are nearly always established in any main establishment or enterprise because of the value and nature of the information contained by the large scale businesses. They are accountable for possessing all the data regarding technology inside the company, protected from malevolent cybernetics attacks, which time and again try to breach into the important private data or at times also tries to take the managerial control of the in-house systems.


- Information assurance: The act of safeguarding that the information is not misplaced when serious issues ascend. These problems comprise but are not restricted to: physical theft, computer or server malfunction, natural disasters, or any other example where information has the chance of being misplaced. As most of the data is put in safekeeping on processors in the modern epoch, information guarantee is naturally dealt with by Information Technology security professionals. One of the most known techniques of providing data assurance is to get an off the site reserve of the information, if in case of any of the stated issues arise.
